The Salvation Army Welcomes New Leadership in Port Angeles, WA

Aug 17, 2016 | by NW Division

The Salvation Army Northwest Division announces the appointment of Majors Ron and Barbara Wehnau to its location in Port Angeles, WA. They replace Majors John and Sabrina Tumey who were appointed to The Salvation Army in Eugene, OR.

For the past three years, Majors Wehnau have served at The Salvation Army in Richland, WA. In June 2000 they graduated from The Salvation Army Officer Training College in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, each with an Associate of Arts degree in Ministry. Prior to their appointment in Richland, they served as Corps Officers in Helena, MT, Great Falls, MT, Centralia, WA and Aberdeen, WA.

Majors Wehnau have two children: son Scott (age 25) and daughter Tiffany (age 22). They are expecting their first grandchild in October.

As Salvation Army officers, the Majors expect to be reassigned throughout their careers. The commitment of being an officer includes moving your family frequently, and accepting reassignments based on career development and filling the needs of The Salvation Army locations. The assignment in Port Angeles is an acknowledgement of their ability to manage a large social services program and congregation.

They began work in Port Angeles on June 29. “We look forward to serving in Port Angeles to help meet the needs of the community members throughout the area,” Major Ron Wehnau said.

Established in 1891, The Salvation Army in Port Angeles provides social services to families in need. Among the programs offered are meal program, rent and utility assistance and emergency disaster services. Holiday programs include holiday meals, food baskets, and toy donations. Last year, The Salvation Army in Port Angeles served more than 8,000 individuals in the community.
