The Salvation Army Welcomes New Leadership in Longview, WA
The Salvation Army Northwest Division announces the appointment of Captains Darryck and Sierra Dwelle to its location in Longview, WA. They replace Lieutenants Jonathan and Nichole Woollin who were appointed to The Salvation Army in Bellingham, WA.
For the past five years, Captains Dwelle have led The Salvation Army in Bellevue, WA. In June 2011, they graduated from The Salvation Army Officer Training College in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, each with an Associate of Arts degree in Ministry.
The Captains Dwelle have two children: son Zechariah (age 9) and son Justus (age 5). Prior to their work with The Salvation Army, Captain Darryck was a firefighter and Captain Sierra was a social worker.
As Salvation Army officers, the Captains expect to be reassigned throughout their careers. The commitment of being an officer includes moving your family frequently, and accepting reassignments based on career development and filling the needs of The Salvation Army locations. The assignment in Longview is an acknowledgement of their ability to manage a multi-faceted social service program.
They began work in Longview on June 29. “We are very excited to serve in the Longview area,” said Captain Sierra Dwelle. “We look forward to helping meet the needs of the community.”
Established in 1922, The Salvation Army in Longview provides social services to families in need. Among the programs offered are food bank, rent and utility assistance, emergency disaster services and emergency cold weather shelter. Holiday programs include holiday meals, food baskets, and toy donations. Last year, The Salvation Army in Longview served more than 14,000 individuals in the community.
