Aug 17, 2016 | by NW Division

The Salvation Army Northwest Division announces the appointment of Lieutenant Susan Cassin to its location in Renton, WA. She will be the Assistant Corps Officer and work alongside Majors Kris and Camie Potter.

For the past three years, Lt. Cassin has served at The Salvation Army in Vancouver, WA. In June 2013, she graduated from The Salvation Army Officer Training College in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, with an Associate of Arts degree in Ministry.

Lt. Cassin was born and raised in Seattle. She began attending The Salvation Army at two-years-old. The church and its ministry became an integral part of her family’s life.

As a Salvation Army officer, Lt. Cassin expects to be reassigned throughout her career. The commitment of being an officer includes moving your family frequently, and accepting reassignments based on career development and filling the needs of The Salvation Army locations. The assignment in Renton is an acknowledgement of her ability to help manage a large community center and congregation.

She began work in Renton on June 29. “I look forward to working alongside existing leadership in Renton to help meet needs within the local community,” Lt. Susan Cassin said.

Established in 1966, The Salvation Army in Renton provides social services to families in need. Among the programs offered are food bank, community meals, rent and utility assistance, emergency disaster services, and after school programs for youth and teens. Holiday programs include holiday meals, food baskets, and toy donations. Last year, The Salvation Army in Renton served more than 29,000 individuals in the community.
