Jul 20, 2017 | by NW Division

The Salvation Army Northwest Division announces the appointment of Major Erica Yang to its location in Seattle White Center, WA. Major Yang will be the Associate Corps Officer, working alongside Captains Anthony and Lisa Barnes.

For the past three years, Major Yang has served at The Salvation Army in Anchorage, Alaska and before that worked in places such as, Hawaii and Los Angeles, California. In June 2002, she graduated from The Salvation Army Officer Training College in Ranchos Palos Verdes, CA, receiving an Associates of Ministry degree.

As a Salvation Army officer, Major Yang expects to be reassigned throughout her career. The commitment of being an officer includes moving your family frequently, and accepting reassignments based on career development and filling the needs of The Salvation Army locations. The assignment in Seattle White Center is an acknowledgement of her ability to impact a growing facility and social services programs.

She began work in White Center on June 28. “I am very glad to be appointed to the Seattle White Center. When I arrived, I met some people with a warm welcome and felt God’s presence in this place,” Major Yang said.

Established in 1929, The Salvation Army in Seattle White Center provides social services to families in need. Among the programs offered are emergency utility assistance, eviction prevention, food and nutrition programs, after-school youth activities, and emergency disaster services. Last year, The Salvation Army in Seattle White Center served more than 23,900 individuals in the community.
