Jul 20, 2017 | by NW Division

The Salvation Army Northwest Division announces the appointment of Lieutenant Brenda Orr to its location in Longview, WA. Lt. Orr will be the Associate Corps Officer, working alongside Captains Darryck and Sierra Dwelle.

For the past three years, Lt. Orr served at The Salvation Army in Ridgecrest, California. In June 2013, she graduated from The Salvation Army Officer Training College in Ranchos Palos Verdes, CA, receiving an Associates of Ministry degree.

As a Salvation Army officer, Lt. Orr expects to be reassigned throughout her career. The commitment of being an officer includes moving your family frequently, and accepting reassignments based on career development and filling the needs of The Salvation Army locations. The assignment in Longview is an acknowledgement of her ability to impact a growing facility and social services programs.

She began work in Longview on June 28. “I have really enjoyed my appointment here in Longview. Captains Dwelle have been very gracious in preparing a place for me in the ministry here and I am excited for the future,” said Lt. Brenda.

Established in 1922, The Salvation Army in Longview provides social services to families in need. Among the programs offered are emergency utility assistance, eviction prevention, food and nutrition programs, after-school youth activities, and emergency disaster services. Last year, The Salvation Army in Longview served more than 11,600 individuals in the community.
