The Salvation Army Welcomes Assistant Leadership in Great Falls, MT
The Salvation Army Northwest Division announces the appointment of Lieutenant Marianne Brands to its location in Great Falls, MT. Lt. Brands will be the Assistant Corps Officer, working alongside Captains Mark and Monica King.
For the past four years, Lt. Brands has served at The Salvation Army in Seattle, WA. She worked closely with the women’s homeless shelter in Seattle, and as well as the program for domestic violence survivors. In June 2012, she graduated from The Salvation Army Officer Training College in Ranchos Palos Verdes, CA, receiving an Associates of Ministry degree.
Lt. Brands has three children: son Kenny (age 28), daughter Morgan (age 26), and son Noah (age 16). Her son Noah will attend C.M. Russell High School this fall.
As a Salvation Army officers, Lt. Brands expects to be reassigned throughout her career. The commitment of being an officer includes moving your family frequently, and accepting reassignments based on career development and filling the needs of The Salvation Army locations. The assignment in Great Falls is an acknowledgement of her ability to impact a growing facility and social services programs.
She began work in Great Falls on June 29. “I’m excited to serve in the Great Falls community!” Lt. Brands said. “Faith is not knowing what the future holds, but knowing who holds my future.”
Established in 1892, The Salvation Army in Great Falls provides social services to families in need. Among the programs offered are a community meal program, youth and adult sports programs, rent and utility assistance, emergency disaster services, and thrift stores. Holiday programs include holiday meals, food baskets, and toy donations. Last year, The Salvation Army in Great Falls served more than 10,000 individuals in the community.
