The Salvation Army Welcomes Additional Leadership in Yakima, WA
The Salvation Army Northwest Division announces Lieutenant Ivan Landeros to its location in Yakima, WA. As Latino Ministry Outreach Officer, Lt. Ivan be serving alongside Salvation Army officers Lts. Joshua and Ryan Boyd.
The Salvation Army has two locations in Yakima: 419 N. 16th Avenue, where Lt. Landeros will serve, and 310 N. 16th Avenue, where Lts. Boyd currently serve.
In 2015, Lt. Landeros received his Associate of Arts degree in Ministry from The Salvation Army Officer Training College in Crestmont, CA. Since that time, he served as Assistant Corps officer at The Salvation Army in North Seattle (Greenwood).
As a Salvation Army officer, Lt. Landeros expects to be reassigned throughout his career. The commitment of being an officer includes moving your family frequently, and accepting reassignments based on career development and filling the needs of The Salvation Army locations. The assignment in Yakima is an acknowledgement of his ability to manage a congregation and community outreach.
He began work in Yakima on June 29. “I am looking forward to being God's hands to serve others in this beautiful city, and being his feet to go find the lost, and being his arms to embrace the hurt, the hungry and the broken hearted,” said Lt. Landeros.
The Salvation Army has been providing social services to families in need in Yakima since 1893. Among the programs offered are senior meal program, food bank, rent and utility assistance, emergency disaster services, and thrift stores. Holiday programs include holiday meals, food baskets, and toy donations. Last year, The Salvation Army in Yakima served more than 34,000 individuals in the community.
