The Salvation Army Welcomes New Leadership in Richland, WA
The Salvation Army Northwest Division announces the appointment of Majors DeWayne and Toni Halstad to its location in Richland, WA. They replace Majors Julio and Karen Vasquez, who were appointed to The Salvation Army in Denver.
Majors Halstad led The Salvation Army in Centralia, WA, for seven years. Prior to Centralia, they served in Boise, ID, LaGrande, OR, and Butte, MT. In 1991, they graduated from The Salvation Army Officer Training College in Crestmont, CA, receiving their Associate of Arts in Ministry degrees.
They have one son, Jeffrey (age 28), daughter-in-law Melinda (age 27) and two granddaughters Julie (age 10), and Samantha (age 5).
As Salvation Army officers, the Lts. expect to be reassigned throughout their careers. The commitment of being an officer includes moving your family frequently, and accepting reassignments based on career development and filling the needs of The Salvation Army locations. The assignment in Richland is an acknowledgement of their ability to manage a large community center and congregation.
They began work in Richland on June 29. “We are thrilled to work in Richland,” Major Toni Halstad. “We are looking forward to meeting the community throughout the Tri-Cities.”
