Endowments and Memorial Gifts

" You are not here in the world for yourself. You have been sent here for others. The world is waiting for you! "

- Catherine Booth

WHAT IS AN ENDOWMENT?

An endowment to The Salvation Army is a gift that supports our work in the community in perpetuity. The endowed gift is invested and a portion of the endowment is paid out as an annual distribution to fund our work. Any increase in value is retained in the endowment so it can grow and support future generations. Endowments can be established now or can be funded later as part of your Will Planning.

WHY IS AN ENDOWMENT IMPORTANT?

Endowments are structured to exist forever. This means that your impact on the community will never end. You will be right beside the Salvation Army doing the most good for each and every future generation.

WHAT DOES THE SALVATION ARMY ENDOWMENT SUPPORT?

The Salvation Army endowment supports a large range of activities and work, including youth programs, food banks, shelters, rehabilitation programs, and much more. The endowment's support for these programs enables The Salvation Army to provide help where it is needed most, including the programs and areas you care the most about.

CAN I DIRECT THE USE OF MY ENDOWMENT FUNDS?

Yes. A Salvation Army endowment can be established for a "designated purpose" that you care about most. This means that donors have specified that their gift must support a particular program or geographic area of our work. These gifts are critical to many areas of our service, each with a unique person and story behind it.

NAMED ENDOWMENTS, AN ENDURING STATEMENT OF YOUR VALUES

Named endowments are a great way to remember and honor a loved one. Named endowments begin with a gift of $100,000. These named endowments and the stories behind them inspire our volunteers and staff every day. You can contact us here for more information.

MEMORIAL GIFTS

There are many thoughtful ways to honor a loved one by helping others. Gifts can be made today or as part of your Will planning plan. Please contact the Office of Gift Planning for more information.
